Prudential Sued By Four Plaintiffs For Wrongful Denial Of Long-Term Disability Benefits

Four Plaintiffs have filed lawsuits in the District Courts of Alabama, Florida, Missouri, and Kentucky against The Prudential Insurance Company Of America (Prudential) for the wrongful denial of disability benefits as defined by ERISA. In all four cases, Prudential is accused of wrongfully withholding the disability benefits as defined by the Plaintiff’s respective Plans.

Standard Denies Benefits For Disabled Trial Attorney Suffering From Hypertension And Coronary Artery Disease

An Illinois disability attorney recently filed a federal lawsuit against the Standard Insurance Company (Standard) after his client was denied long term disability benefits. The Plaintiff worked as a Trial Attorney and took out two policies of disability income insurance from Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company (which was later acquired by Standard Insurance Company) to provide monthly disability income benefit payments if Plaintiff ever became disabled. Unfortunately, the Plaintiff became disabled. A timely claim was made, however, Standard never provided benefits.

Former Northwestern Mutual Insurance Agent Sues Northwestern Mutual for Denial of His Disability Benefits

A former insurance agent for the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and his Idaho disability attorney filed a lawsuit against the insurer in Idaho Federal Court to recover his disability insurance benefits. In May 1970, Roger C. purchased a disability insurance policy from his own employer Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company (NWM) and subsequently purchased a second disability insurance policy in 1975. In addition, from 1970 until 1994 Roger C. added several life insurance policies from NWM to his portfolio of insurance coverage. And, having paid all premiums for the two (2) NWM policies as well as his other NWM life insurance policies, Roger C. rightfully expected to be fully covered by those policies should he become disabled, which he did in 2005. Unfortunately, NWM denied his claims for benefits.

RAMM Metals Employee Sues Fort Dearborn Life for Unpaid Disability Benefits

An employee at RAMM Metals, Inc., suffering from endometrial carcinoma, and her Pennsylvania disability attorney filed a Complaint against Fort Dearborn Life Insurance Company in Federal Court seeking disability benefits from the insurer that have wrongfully been denied. A Controller at RAMM, Patricia C. became disabled on October 24, 2007 when she was unable to perform her job at the company. Unfortunately, Fort Dearborn has decided that Patricia C. does not qualify for long term disability benefits and has refused to pay. After being denied benefits, this suit was filed.

She filed a claim for short-term and long-term disability after she ceased working.
