North Carolina Resident Wins Disability Claim Over Reliance Standard

Fredrick Smith worked as a plant manager for Charles Craft, Inc. in North Carolina. He held that position since 1970, but he was forced to leave by 2013 due to a series of strokes and heart problems. Smith applied for disability benefits with Reliance Standard under his employer’s ERISA plan. At first, Reliance paid benefits, but after some time, Reliance revised its decision and insisted that Smith could work at another job. Smith appealed the new denial.

Two Floridian Plaintiffs Sue Aetna Due To Failure To Provide Long-Term ERISA Benefits

Aetna Life Insurance Company (Aetna) was sued in two Florida District Courts of Florida by two Plaintiffs for violations of the long-term disability benefits provided under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). In the aforementioned cases, just like the countless other lawsuits filed against Aetna, it is claimed that Aetna has illegally denied the Plaintiffs’ claims for long-term disability (LTD) benefits as promised under their respective plans.

Prudential Insurance Inc. Sued By Genentech Microbiologist For Denial of Long-Term Disability Benefits Provided By ERISA

A disability lawsuit was recently filed by a California disability attorney in Federal Court against Prudential Insurance Inc. (Prudential) and Genetic Engineering Technology, Inc. The Plaintiff, William C., was employed as a microbiologist at Genentech. Due to his employment, Plaintiff was covered by Genentech’s long-term disability insurance plan, which was administered by Prudential.

In William C. v. Prudential Insurance Inc. and Genetic Engineering Technology, Inc., Plaintiff seeks the long-term disability benefits that should have been provided under the terms of the plan, but were wrongfully denied by Prudential.

Standard Denies Benefits For Disabled Trial Attorney Suffering From Hypertension And Coronary Artery Disease

An Illinois disability attorney recently filed a federal lawsuit against the Standard Insurance Company (Standard) after his client was denied long term disability benefits. The Plaintiff worked as a Trial Attorney and took out two policies of disability income insurance from Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company (which was later acquired by Standard Insurance Company) to provide monthly disability income benefit payments if Plaintiff ever became disabled. Unfortunately, the Plaintiff became disabled. A timely claim was made, however, Standard never provided benefits.
